Former army officer Ziaul Ahsan has been remanded for eight days in the murder case.

 

Former Director General of NTMC, Major General (Retd.) Ziaul Ahsan, was produced in the court on Friday. The court granted his eight-day remand in a murder case.


The court has allowed former Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan to be remanded for eight days for questioning in the case of killing Hakar Shahjahan Ali at Newmarket police station. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka gave this order on Friday.


Earlier, Ziaul Ahsan was brought to the court and requested to be interrogated on remand for 10 days. On the other hand, Ziaul Ahsan's lawyer applied for bail seeking cancellation of remand. After hearing both sides, the court allowed Ziaul Ahsan to be remanded for eight days for interrogation. Earlier arrested former Law Minister Anisul Haque and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment adviser Salman F Rahman were also arrested in this case. In view of the application of the DB police, the court granted a 10-day remand to both of them.

Ziaul Ahsan's lawyer Nazmun Nahar told the court that his client was never employed by DGFI. He did not build 'aynaghar' (secret prison). A media trial is being conducted on him on Facebook. He was arrested and taken away from his home on August 7.


On the other hand, the lawyer for the plaintiff Mohammad Ullah Khan told the court that this Ziaul Ahsan is the hero of the disappearance and murder. He is associated with 'genocide'. He is also the father of mirrors. For a long time, he worked as a player in the Awami League government to become fascist. He is involved in crimes against humanity. The newly ex-army officer has been involved in the abduction and disappearance of people of different political persuasions since 2012.



At one stage of the hearing, Ziaul Ahsan told the court, "I was taken from my home on August 7. I was in the mirror room. I did not make a mirror. 70% of my heart is blocked. I have been voluntarily retired. I have never been to Dhanmondi. NTMC has provided digital intelligence only. There has never been a case in my name before.

Sheikh Hasina's government fell on August 5 amid the student-public movement. After that last Tuesday, Major General Ziaul Ahsan was released from service by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).


In a small message of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday, Ziaul Ahsan was informed about the arrest of Ziaul Ahsan from Khilkhet area of ​​the capital on Thursday late night. It is said that the arrest was shown in a murder case of Newmarket police station.
