626 sheltered in cantonments to save lives, now 7: ISPR

 

A total of 626 people, including politicians, were sheltered in various cantonments to save their lives in the context of political change on August 5. As the situation improved, 615 people left the cantonment on their own initiative. 4 persons are handed over to law enforcement agencies following due process based on complaints or cases. Currently seven are staying in the cantonment. This information was informed in the press release of the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.


According to the press release, on August 5, the law and order situation in the whole country deteriorated greatly in the context of the political change. At that time, several citizens, including some political figures, sought refuge in the cantonment in fear of death. In this context, a total of 626 people were sheltered in various cantonments with the aim of preventing extrajudicial activities, protecting lives and upholding the rule of law.

According to the press release, 24 political figures are among those who have been sheltered in various cantonments. 5 judges. 19 civil administration officials. 28 police officers. 487 members of various levels of police. 12 miscellaneous persons including officials of various public universities. 51 family members (wife and children).

According to the press release, 615 people left the cantonment on their own initiative subject to the improvement of the situation. So far 4 of the asylum seekers have been handed over to the law enforcement agencies following due legal process based on the charges or cases brought against them.



According to the press release, a total of seven people including the three asylum seekers and their four family members are currently staying in the cantonment. In this case, the army has provided all the information to the concerned ministry.
